The inspiration for this fragrance comes from a perfectly still, slightly chilly spring morning spent soaking in a tub at the Tawaraya in Kyoto.

It pulls together our memory of the mosses and trees outdoors and sharp notes of the boxy, hinoki tub.

We wanted to capture the same smell and sensation enjoyed while staying with friends in Batroun, Lebanon. It’s warm, inviting and at times a little sharp – just like the country.

Airborne, is an attempt to capture a sense of my journeys from Cyprus to London. I proposed an imaginary scenario as to how neroli, lemon or lentiscus from Cyprus could incur change during and after an air journey from Mediterranean Cyprus to a London urban setting.

Dark, mystical elegance

A highly revered, resinous extract from the forests of Vietnam and Laos, Agarwood has been used for devotion and meditation in Buddhist temples for centuries. 'Agarwoud' combines notes of Bulgarian rose, amber and benzoin to create a surprisingly contemporary, clean and elegant accord in which the unique character of oud is instantly recognisable.

Do Son Eau de Parfum by Diptyque. Tuberose asserts itself, expressing all its sunny, hazy, creamy, indolent seductiveness. Anyone with blood in their veins will succumb to the irresistible temptation of this insolently seductive white flower.

L’Ombre dans l’Eau Eau de Parfum by Diptyque. A stroll through an English garden continues into the rose garden. On a bed of moss, the voluptuous, sensual Damask roses spread their petals, perched on their fresh stems.

Volutes Eau de Parfum by Diptyque. Blond, honeyed Egyptian tobacco transports you to mysterious horizons and far-off shore. Iris strengthens it, spices give it body, and styrax imposes a daring and distinguished leathery note.

From the far ends of the earth comes a fragrance transparent in nature. Owari opens up with rare mandarins from the Japanese province of Owari and freshly crushed grapefruit leaves. The heart consists of the intensely vibrant Cubeb pepper and Tonkin musk from the Chinese mountains.

The primitive ambiance of southern Mediterranean peaks combined with the ancient fertility of Anatolian soils brings forth a herbaceous blend of verdant galbanum and raw lentisque. Harvested from the wild landscapes of Sri Lanka comes a scent that truly represents an authentic interpretation of pure vetiver. Poetically named L’Ombre dans l’Eau, “The Shadow in the Water,” it is a fragrance that recalls a lush garden at water’s edge and a brief glimpse of life, captured in the memory of a friend of the three founders. One day, this dear one was gathering roses and blackcurrant; stretching her hand out to Desmond Knox-Leet, she suggested that he work on this accord, one of potent originality.

In the heat of a Greek summer, “to get to the sea,” recalls Yves, “you had to walk through a natural orchard of wild fig trees.” Returning from Paris, Desmond brought back a few leaves of these trees in a little box. Years later, the leaves had lost none of their fragrance. Philosykos, which in Greek means “friend of the fig tree,” is an ode to the entire tree: the green, pungent freshness of the leaves, the wood warmed in the sun, the milky flavor of the fruit.
