Maria Lux Truly, madly, deeply yours.
Storm's listening to the sweet words of Lilian Dresden, ears up!
"MariaLux is my muse, she is my perfect alter ego. Maria as virgin, mother, lover. Lux stands for light, luxury, and lust. The ‘L’ is me, Lilian Driessen, designer & creative director. I dress.
I’ve been working in this profession since 1987. I embrace work in progress, the effort and collective excitement that lies in the process. As I have touched and have been touched, there are many stories to tell.
The house creates anarchic tailored elegance and raw luxury. Executed and produced with care and love by masters of their craft. Everything we do we approach with personal attention. We offer exclusivity, privacy, and delicacy in a thoughtful but informal manner."

Interview
with NigoThis is an interview with founder of the limited edition vintage label Human Made. Nigo who is also the force behind cult brand A Bathing Ape and a long-term vintage enthusiast reveals the details that distinguish a collector’s item. (interview from Nowness)
Archival selection Generally, I’m only interested in things up until 1950. It’s hard to explain how I select pieces. From a vintage-history viewpoint it’s a weird selection, but it’s just the things that speak to me most.
Vintage longing I don’t tend to search for things because I like the idea that you come across something and decide at that time if you like it or not. But I want a Lee cowboy jacket, a denim jacket with blanket lining. I found one but it was damaged, and the dealer had repaired it so I couldn’t buy it.
Memorable story The first time I ever bought a vintage garment I was 15. It was a Levi’s Type 2 jacket. The thing was shredded, falling to pieces. My mum was totally pissed off and couldn’t imagine that I’d bought a jacket with holes in it. She gave me hell for it. I’ve still got the jacket now.
Man-made inspirations I didn’t want to make anything for Human Made without actually having the garment to look at, inspect and see how it’s put together. Nothing has come from photographs. Pretty much everything is from my own collection, but rearranged.

FAFI O'CLOCK
The enigmatically-named Fafi originally hails from Paris, France. During the mid 1990s, she first began to enliven local walls and spaces with her graffiti art, garnering admiration for her distinct graphic sensibility, which proposed sassy and humorous depictions of subverted feminine stereotypes. Encour-aged by her initial success, Fafi travelled around the world - making her mark in Japan, Europe, USA and Hong Kong - and forged further enthusiastic fans far and wide. High profile collaborations with, for example, electronic mega-brands, cutting-edge fashion boutiques, sports labels and make-up ranges all duly ensued, with Fafi's imagery also being featured in glossy magazines, pop videos and best-selling books. A new-found depth was brought to Fafi's crea-tive output after she became a mother, in 2007, though her mischievous visual spirit remains as potent as ever in her latest works.

Noma: Staff Meal
What the Band of Chefs at the World's Best Restaurant Cook For Each Other
Danish photographer and filmmaker Simon Ladefoged captures a never-before-documented dimension of Noma, revealing what the chefs at the award-winning eatery cook for their own pre-service meal. Famed for artful Nordic dishes involving delicate, laborious work such as preening deep-fried moss and drying wafers of scallop, Copenhagen's gastronomic mecca re-energizes its chefs with the daily ritual of a boisterous communal staff lunch, held at 5pm before the evening’s guests start pouring in. Granted exclusive access to the Noma kitchens, Ladefoged produced an aesthetic portrait of the 37-strong team, culled from 22 countries, carefully preparing what founder René Redzepi calls their “family meal.” “While filming I was amazed by two things—the number of chefs in the kitchen and the amount of energy they put into their staff lunch,” says the director. “Other restaurants will just grab something for lunch, but this is a really big thing at Noma, which shows a lot about the people who work there, the mentality and the way it’s run.” Have a look at the video or get inspired by the book Copenhagen from Noma.

StyleLikeUA StyleLikeU Production, Directed by Magdalena Wosinska Starring Scout Larue Willis
As I slammed the door to the way of life I had become conditioned to after twenty years of inundation and repression in the form of my childhood home I let out the most primal of screams. And with this scream the most sudden release of the maddening mantras of an upbringing I had yet to face the horrors of. Clad in leathers, silks, turquoise, and blue jeans I set off before first light, seeking a truth as painful as it was freeing. I will yank that rotted tooth of deceit from the roots and god willing I will throw it into fiery seas, with this sacrifice will my long burdened heart remain disquieted?

The Rolling Stones 50: Making of the Cover
The cover of the new book, The Rolling Stones: 50, was realised through a collaborative effort between artist Ian Wright and the art direction team at Studio Fury. Ian and Stephen Kennedy (creative director at Studio Fury) first worked together on album art for Ian Brown’s ‘Golden Greats’. When the Rolling Stones management and The Mirror approached Studio Fury about producing artwork for the Rolling Stones’ 50th anniversary, Stephen and colleague Jimmy Tilley instantly knew that Ian’s work was a perfect fit for a cover image that needed to be both iconic but also incorporate hundreds of images. With privileged access to The Mirror’s extensive archive of Rolling Stones photographs, Studio Fury set about selecting and processing images of Mick, Keith, Charlie and Ronnie into circular crops that could be made into button badges. Frank Ocean
Frank Ocean has character. He's rare. In a world that divvies up art by genre, that constantly seeks to quantify cool, he is impossible to miss, like a panda bear in a pine forest. And over the past year or so, he's become harder and harder to ignore. Frank had long labored behind the curtain—writing for Brandy, Justin Bieber, and John Legend—but after hooking up with L.A.'s Odd Future collective, he self-released 2011's nostalgia, ULTRA. mixtape, and his own star quickly rose. Original songs like "Novacane" and "Swim Good" showcased his knack for riveting storytelling and arrangement, climbed the R&B charts, and led to collaborations with Beyoncé, and Kanye West and Jay-Z.

THE GIVENCHY FILES
One day in spring 2003, a young man called Riccardo Tisci stopped by the studio
of M/M (Paris) to buy a couple of their Alphabet posters he was admiring.
Two years later as the newly appointed creative director for Givenchy,
Tisci invited M/M to develop an ever-expanding visual langage for the revered
fashion house. Invitation cards for his fashion shows have become a space of visual
experimentations through which M/M freely express Tisci’s inspirations.
‘Hyper-chic propaganda, imperceptible appeals, juvenile graffiti, interweaving dark
choruses and hypothetical calculations of the imaginary’, as described
by Olivier Zahm, these invitations for the women, men and haute couture collections
of Givenchy are gathered for the first time in this publication, celebrating this
fertile collaboration — an original and rare happening in fashion imagery —
that is still going strong. Buy the book here.mask -

Bedwin & The Heartbreakers
Masafumi Watanabe’s label BEDWIN & THE HEARTBREAKERS has been etching out a name for itself lately with its Japanese-constructed, detail-oriented takes on classic American menswear. Always seeking to filter past inspirations through a contemporary lens, and with a slogan proclaiming “paramount quality,” the designer for this season has created a series of modern, wearable, and often off-beat garments that are the backbone of its Fall/Winter 2012 lookbook. With an emphasis on outerwear, the fall BEDWIN pieces are firmly rooted in the classics but always with elements that are ever so slightly off. Watanabe describes his ideal man as someone ordinary, but with character, and the new collection certainly provides a “mirror” for that ethos. Available here.

That's why throughout 2013, they will celebrate "20 YEARS OF KOMPAKT" in all shapes and colors, including this exciting jubilee 2-CD release jam-packed with floor favorites, towering chart-toppers and secret weapons from the rich history of one of Germany's most-loved labels. Carefully pulled from KOMPAKT's extensive archives, this first entry in the 20 JAHRE KOMPAKT KOLLEKTION series is in no way meant to be a "Best of": that would indeed be a task larger than life. Rather than just going through the motions and assembling sales numbers, they took a different road, simply compiling their proudest moments instead, classic records that defined their sound today. Consider each track in this selection an electronic masterpiece, regardless of whether it reached out for the floor like JUSTUS KÖHNCKE's AFTER 909 or catered to the home listening crowd like PLUXUS' TRANSIENT. The massive bangers included in KOLLEKTION 1 range from MATIAS AGUAYO's unmistakable bass slinger WALTER NEFF to the highly emotional Ravecore of REX THE DOG's PROTOTYPE, dropping in on VOIGT & VOIGT's timeless anthem VISION 03 or LAWRENCE's brilliant remix of SUPERPITCHER's legendary HAPPINESS. You'll hear rare goodies and underground hits such as MAYER/VOIGT's TRANSPARENZA or HEIKO VOSS' I THINK ABOUT YOU alongside long-standing contributors like THE FIELD, SCSI-9, KAITO and many, many more, making for an expertly crafted listening experience and an enticing trip to the past. New Icons of Fashion Illustration
Fashion illustration is and always has been about far more than pretty drawings of pretty dresses. This lavish celebration of today's leading artists in the field showcases the timeless craft and amazing diversity that characterize the genre. From David Downton to Cecilia Carlstedt and from Jason Brooks to Jordi Labanda, 28 masters of fashion illustration from across the world are featured, one by one, in a grand tour of the best work currently produced. While some illustrators create daringly bold graphics, others prefer delicate watercolours and ink drawings. Throughout the volume, both hi-tech multimedia effects and traditional drawing skills are given pride of place, with many of the artists using a mixture of techniques. Lively commentary accompanies the images, while interviews with each illustrator provide further insight into their influences and methods. Buy the book here!

Guy Bourdin
With the eye of a painter, Guy Bourdin created images that contained fascinating stories, compositions, and colours. Using fashion photography as his medium, he sent out his message, one that was difficult to decode, exploring the realms between the absurd and the sublime. Famed for his suggestive narratives and surreal aesthetics, he radically broke conventions of commercial photography with a relentless perfectionism, and sharp humour. This tome is a road trip through Bourdins visual landscape; a collage of images that maps his artistic search and vision. The texts, polaroids, poems, sketches and contact sheets unfold in real time through the memories of model Nicolle Meyer, a muse to Bourdin. Given total creative freedom, and with uncompromising artistic ethic, Guy Bourdin captured the imagination of a whole generation. The late 1970s, recognized as the highest note in his career, is the focal point of the work. This revisited edition, originally printed as two volumes, is the first monograph in a forthcoming set of eight books which explore the most outstanding and undiscovered work thus far. Guy Bourdin (1928-1991) was born in Paris. His career as a fashion photographer spans over three decades, shooting largely for Vogue Paris, as well as Harpers Bazaar, Chanel, Issey Miyake, Versace, Charles Jourdan, and Emanuel Ungaro. Today, his work is exhibited in the most prestigious museums, such as The Victoria & Albert Museum, The Jeu de Paume, and The National Museum of China, and his images have a cult-like following amongst the fashion set.
